Can't Get Enough

I just finished editing Lauren, Brad & Bens photos. I know I've already done a post about them, but I just had to show a couple more because they're such pretty people :)

Photo Lesson #(we will say) 5: Have confidence. I did this shoot right after work, so I rushed over and was feeling a little overwelmed. Of course Lauren is so sweet, and made me feel comfortable in her home, but I was still feeling aprehensive about shoting in a place I was unfamilure with. But this photo shoot has turned out to be one of my favorite! It can be intimadating to go into a place that you've never been, and move things around, find good light, and ask people to move in diferent positions, but with a little confidence, things can turn out better than you even thought possible. And the more confident you are, the more confident your subject will be in your abilities.

Ahn Young Haseo

Hello, in Korean (I'm sure I brutally miss spelled that)! I spend some time over the weekend editing some photos that I took while we were in Korea. One of my favorite things about Korea was that they had amazing paper. It made me gitty to walk down the streets and see the sheets hanging in the store windows. Seriously, like Disney land for me.

I finally got around to posting pics from the trip on my shutterfly site. I posted some of my artsy-phartsy ones, but if you want to see family vaca pics, you can go to my shutterfly account, elyfairphotos.shutterfly.com.

Cheers!

Tomato, ToMAto

About a year ago a coworker gave us a salsa recipe that revolutionized our lives (Thanks Traci!)! Hubby has to make it because it involves chopping a whole onion, and if I even look at an onion cross eyed, it starts the waterworks.

Anyway, a friend came over and shared a fresh tomato from his garden with us, and it is a GIANT! It's a brandywine tomato, and I loved how unpredictable it was. It grew bulges on top of bulges, unlike the refined tomato's of our age. So much more personality!

So Ryan made one batch with the store bought tomato's, and one with this rouge giant, and it made a load of difference! Nothing can beat fresh ingredients. Maybe next year I will get up the courage to start my own garden, instead of bumming off friends.

PS if you want it, here's the salsa recipe:

Traci's Tasty Salsa
  • 2 large Roma tomatoes, coarsely chopped (or fresh grown Brandywine!!)
  • 2 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes (Mexican style) -- put in the chopper to get a more fine texture
  • 2 jalapenos, seeded and coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cumin, to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large vidalia onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1/3 cup cilantro, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne, to taste

Why I love my dog and husband

This is the series of events that I woke up to this morning:

  1. Ryan gets up to let Pete out for the morning
  2. Back door screen gets stuck
  3. In anticipation, Pete let’s a little leak
  4. Ryan gets nervous, and starts banging at the door
  5. Banging on the door makes Pete nervous, so he runs back in crate and pee’s in crate

Good morning Wednesday. What else do you have in store for us?

This is not dog and husband, but dog and niece. But I thought I'd share anyway.

In A Pickle!

Look at our creations! Muhahaha!

Some of our good friends have started a “Skill Share,” in which they are teaching us some great skills and techniques that have been forgotten in this age of mega-grocery stores, and faster is better attitudes. They are definitely the people I would seek out first if all the sudden all a meteor hit earth and we had to build civilization from the ground up.

The first one was about brewing beer (unfortunately we missed that one), and this past Saturday was about pickling. We were pretty plane Jane and stuck with cucumbers and garlic because we LOVE pickles, but others jarred up some carrots, onions, jalapenos, and other various veggie goodness!

So although I did not finish ONE THING ON MY WEEKEND TO DO LIST, it was still worthwhile because I got to enjoy time with great friend, and felt so accomplished learning something new. And now we all are supposed to think up of a skill to share...any suggestions??

Summer Cleanse

Officially today I have started my summer clense! I cleared off my desktop on my computer, threw away the dying plant on my file cabinet, deleted over 400 emails in my inbox, cleaned my office, and wiped everything down with Clorox wipes. Oh, how I love you Clorox wipes, you make my office smell so nice!

After my doctors appointment this morning (of which I found out I’ve lost 13 pounds since February!) I’ve been motivated to get everything in order.

On the list for this weekend:

  • Clean garage so that we can fit my car in
  • Finish editing photos
  • Cook a new meal
  • Take Pete on a walk
  • Get paper and print some announcements and invitations

When cleaning off my desktop, I found these pics of some good friends little baby. Isn’t Olive cute!

Ryan and Jenni

The whole time we shot this wedding, it was confusing because I kept bossing Ryan/husband around, and Ryan/groom was too sweet and kept thinking that I needed him to do things! But I think that gives a great feel of the servant hearts that these two have. I know they will have a fun life together :)

They got married in this tiny little chapel in the art district in OKC, and it was just precious.

Lauren, Brad and little Ben

Last night I got to take pictures of one of the sweetest families that I've encountered on my quarter of a century here on planet earth. Lauren is a couple of months pregnant (well, make that 8 months!), and wanted some pics of her cute belly. And check out her AMAZING baby room. I think I should just rent it out for pictures!!

SOOOO BIG

Okay, I know I post WAY too much about my puppy, but I was downloading these pics into my Pete folder, and saw one from a couple of days after we got him. He's growing way to fast!

Look, he's already giving me the "come on, quit taking my picture" look! He's such a teenager. I suppose you can track the growth of my husbands hair, too. And I promise that I buy him more than striped polo shirts.

Had to include this one, gotta love a boy and his pup. Pete is almost as cute as my hubby, huh??

Camera Lust

photo provided by www.nikonusa.com

I'm officially in love with the Nikon D-700. Not that I've used it, or even played with it, but just reading about it has been making me drool.

I know that it doesn't LOOK that much different than my current Nikon, but the camera man at the store convinced me (not that it was hard) that I needed one. Too bad they're upwards of $3k. I guess I need to book some more photo sessions....know of anyone?? I have some fun ideas for my next couples shoot!!

Maybe the camera fairy will bring me one....

(sorry dear, it was the manliest fiary pic i could find...nobody reads this but you anyway...)
