Now They're Giving Away a Kelly Moore Bag!

So my last post was about the givaway for the workshop. Everyday they're doing a new giveaway for the day, and then each day you enter for the giveaway you're put in the BIG giveaway for the workshop. My last blog they were giving away a UNO resource, which looked cool, but I was more interested in the workshop.

Well NOW they are giving away a Kelly Moore bag. I've talked about them on this blog before, they look fabulous. And I wasn't going to annoy you with another blog post entry, but if I didn't win the workshop spot, the bag would be a nice consolation prize!

But here's the question of the day: If I were to win, which color would I choose, the grey or the yellow?? I'm so indecisive, what do you think??

I'm leaning toward the yellow because it is so fun, but the grey is pretty classic. Any suggestions? You can go check out the Kelly Moore site, they have some really nice bags for guys, too, wouldn't Ryan look cute with this one:

Fingers and Toes Crossed!

For about a year, I have REALLY been wanting to go to a photography workshop. I've been yearning to connect with other photographers, specifically women photographers, and to learn from others and get little tips from people who are more experienced than I am. I am not prideful, I will take advice from anyone who has life experience on me.

But usually these workshops are pretty pricey because they include hotel time, dinners, etc. Plus, many of them are far away, so it's hard to get the time off to travel. So the past year I have been focusing on buying equipment and have put a workshop on the side burner until next year.

BUUUUTT one of the bloggers that I follow, Davina  that I follow (who has great articles and interviews about women in photography) is hosting a workshop with 3 other talented ladies called Love Affair,  and they are running a contest for a seat at their next in DALLAS! With in a hop, skip and a jump from the OKC! And by blogging, I get an entry. So here it is. Wish me luck! And you can try, too (even though I would be insanely jealous if you won :) Check out http://www.loveaffairworkshop.com! They’re giving away prizes & a seat to their workshop on the blog this week! Go enter to win

And because no blog is fun with out a pic, here are some sweet little toes of our friend JJ's baby.

Drumroll please.....

Well, blog, I have been avoiding you. Specifically this post. Not because I have some big scary to share, but because it is an epic post. Post number…..(drum roll please)…..100!

Streamers shooting, confetti flying, and now…what do I talk about??? I was hoping that my hundredth post so I would f. But, no, I have just been letting it sit all lonely and neglected.

So I was looking back at my posts from the past year and a couple of months. It’s been a crazy ride for us! I started a business, traveled to Korea, we bought a house, got a puppy, survived 2 snow storms, lost a job, and now here we are. It’s been kind of a crazy ride! I wish I could say that we are on a high point of the ride right now, but it’s been a tough month. But I think it is all starting to even out now.

Ryan has been working really hard to get everything in line for his Alternative Certification to teach. I can’t remember if I had mentioned that teaching was the game plan. When Ryan got laid off in January, it was scary, but at the same time a great opportunity for him to really look at what he wants to do. He liked his old job for the most part, but he was pretty sure that he didn’t want to be in insurance for the rest of his life. So with the help and encouraging of a sweet friend, Ryan came to the conclusion that he would really like to teach. And he is super excited. Like, jump up in the air, happy.

And when I came home from work yesterday, he had his study guides and books sprawled out on the dining room table taking notes. Ryan. Studying. More than the night before. It’s a small miracle. And I am really proud of him, and happy that he has found something he is passionate about. So keep your fingers crossed that he passes the test! And keep your toes, legs and eyes crossed that he will get a job, too.

And I have been doing a lot of soul searching about my photography. Really trying to develop a style of my own, a voice of my own. Which is hard for me, because we all know how indecisive I am.

So that’s what’s going on with the Fairs on my hundredth post. That, and our little Pete turns one TODAY!!!  And because Pete is our baby, we gave him the first year photo treatment, cupcake and all:

I know, we are horrible people. I would judge me if I were you, too. How terribly unlucky that Pete got paired with the two of us. Putting him in bowls, making him sit in a high chair. At least we reward him heavily with tastey treats. And don't fret, we were very careful with our use of open flame with our pup -- and the cupcake was dog healthy, too, pureed chicken and eggs made by yours truly.

Do you like that his birthday picture turned out like one of those creepy posters that the dentist hangs on the ceiling for you to look at when you get your teeth cleaned, or that Angela from the Office would hang in her cubicle? 5% horrific, 95% HILARIOUS! Because the photo was cheesy, I chose a font that equaled in it's bad taste.

So this is us, on our 100th post. Over and out.

Custom Made Backpacks

Normally, I don't think Pigeons are cute. I personally think they are flying rats. But here's proof that a good outfit can work wonders:
Yep, that pigeon is wearing a backpack. And I have to admit, it's actually kind of cute. I heard the story today on NPR about how scientist are studying the flying patterns of birds, and they developed this little GPS system in the backpack that weighs about half an ounce, and records location data 5 times per second. That's pretty amazing. You can read the whole story at npr.org.

Off to bed for me, maybe I'll have dreams I'm flying....I've never had one of those before :)

Easter Adventures

Yesterday was an amazing spring day. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate with family. My sister has two young children, so we had a blast watching them search for the RIDICULOUS amount of little presents the 'Easter Bunny' hid in the front yard.

In fact, the Easter Bunny brought so many treats, that the kids had to move on from both of their baskets to shopping sacks to accommodate. Then Uncle Ryan had to carry it because it was too heavy.

In between our parents homes and dinners, we had some Easter fun of our own with Pete! We decided to have an Easter Treat Hunt! He didn't get it at first, but once he understood that the yard had magically turned into little yummers, he was running around like a mad hatter!

Don't mind our overgrown patchy grass.

And here's happy Pete, with a tummy full of Easter treats :)

Stay tuned for what is caused this odd behavior of my husband.

Peter Frankenstein Fair, The Greatest Dog That Has Ever Lived

Ryan and I are really enthused by Pete lately. Minus his exsessive shedding at the moment, he’s just about the greatest dog that has ever lived, and he’s getting greater. The new things that he has recently done include:
  • Catching the ball when we throw it up really, really, really (I mean really) high
  • Going to his bed when we eat dinner. We always make him do this when we have meals (because let’s be honest, we eat at the couch most nights and he likes to sneak little tasty treats when we aren’t looking), but recently we haven't even had to tell him to go to his bed--he’s just figured it out. When we make our meal and emerge from the kitchen, he goes straight to his bed with no prompting. Awesome.
  • He is trying to negotiate with me. We always put him outside when we leave the house, and usually he’s happy with that. Except for lately when it’s been cold. I’ll open the back door, tell him to go outside, and then he will walk right past me into his kennel, and look at me like “Hey, I’m just going to stay in here today, is that cool?”
  • And my most favorite thing about Pete: He lets me take ridiculous pictures of him, as seen below.
Don’t worry moms, this isn’t the same bowl that I put your babies in. This is the slightly larger one that it nests in. But Pete is our baby for the time being, so he gets the bowl treatment.

But Pete was pretty hilarious when we took these pics. He DID NOT want to go in the bowl. I suppose "let's me take ridiculous pictures' wasn't a wholly honest statement. Puts up with our shinanagans because we give him treats is probably more accurate. Here's a rundown of how this went:

Ryan picks up Pete and puts him in absurdly large bowl.
Pete escapes and runs for freeeeeddddooooommmm!
Ryan gets Pete back in bowl, and Pete looks at me angered and humiliated, complete with grass of defeat all over him.
Pete realizes he's going to get a little treat, licks his chops and decides to cooperate, indicating this by a wink. What a great dog.

Watch out future Fair children, I will also make you sit in bowls. I'll even try to finagle you in there for your senior pics if I can. Ba-ha-ha.

Speaking of babies in bowls, you can see can see some over on the pro-blog!
